1: Be a valued team member
Extra voices add depth to any song, especially songs from
Cornwall. By joining other hearty souls at NMC you can make a huge difference
to the sound of our choir.
2: STAY FIT & HEALTHY
All singing burns calories and keeps you in peak condition,
but when singing as part of a choir you can also reduce stress levels,
alleviate breathing problems, enhance your general mood, lower blood pressure,
prevent social isolation and sharpen the brain – which should be enough to
justify an extra pasty now and again!
3: become proper ‘ansum
Audiences often become dizzy with emotion when they hear
men harmonising! You’ll be amazed at how
attractive you become when you start singing. Even other men will be seriously
impressed by your manly voice – whether bass or tenor – and will look on green
with envy, wishing they’d joined NMC too.
4: show off to friends and family
Once you’re part of the gang
and have a repertoire of rousing tunes in your locker, you’ll be able to share the amazing songs with your nearest and
dearest and revel in their astonishment at your newly discovered talent.
5: have SOME fun
The sound of laughter is second only to the singing at our
choir sessions. It might take a little effort to learn the words and get your
part right, but above all, we’re here to have a
great time!
6: meet new people
Being part of our choir is a wonderful social activity.
There are plenty of opportunities to expand your social circle with like-minded
people who share your lust for life and song!
7: be part of a supportive
community
It’s extraordinary how
quickly a choir becomes an extended family. There are plenty of examples of how
supportive other choir members can be at difficult times: bereavement,
relationship break-ups, bad health, job losses, etc.
8: find your singing voice
If you love to sing but don’t feel comfortable at the thought of performing in public,
don’t worry – there’s plenty of time
and space until you find your voice and develop the confidence to take your
rightful place in the spotlight.
9: Let off A BIT OF steam
Where else offers you the opportunity to sing at the top of
your voice without causing a public order offence? Singing in our choir is a
fantastic way to vent your frustration at the challenges of the modern world in
a socially acceptable manner.
10: KEEP YOUR LUSCIOUS LOCKS
Everyone knows that singing in a choir prevents hair loss.
If you see a bald man in a choir, it’s only because they
didn’t join when they were younger!
